Function + Form = Fun!

There are baskets on the work bench today, and they’ll be used for serving, or decoration, or to hold other objects.

The style depends on what’s needed, and function/form are interchangeable.

Making baskets is work, but it’s the FUN kind of work. While these examples might have a function (in my mind), someone else might think they are perfect for use for something I’d not thought of before.

Fine with me…I’m creatively productive today and I work with my hands, my head, and my heart.

“Learning How To Take the Heat”

It’s August, and around where I live, this is the part of the summer where humidity in the air is so thick, a person could almost wrap up in and wear it. A day like today has clouds moving in, a high heat index, the distant rumble of thunder, and before you turn around twice…there’s a pop up rainstorm.

Not just talking about the weather today. I know, I know, the garden out back just LOVES the rain and it’s good for growing the vegetables.

But it changes whatever else I might’ve planned for the day, this weather has. It’s a perfect day for catching up on inside projects. OR reading a good book*, maybe working on a crafting project**, or taking a nap. Maybe all three.

I COULD catch up on some television viewing, but honestly…t.v. news and broadcasts during most times (but especially during a political/election year) aggravates me in ways that are most surprising. I search for “balance,” in my personal and public interactions. And so…I create:

Potholders.

From sock loops.

I’ll most likely be making a lot of these, and while admitting that they are based on craft projects I remember from my childhood(many years ago) I am finding this activity very therapeutic even now, as many things made by hand seem to be able to do.

I’ll wish you well on your creative journey, too. Please leave a comment if you wish, and let me know how it’s going.

Happy creating!
